About Me

About Valerie

If you're considering therapy, chances are you've already spent a lot of time trying to figure things out on your own.

Maybe you've read the books, listened to the podcasts, talked with friends, or replayed the same conversations in your head more times than you can count. You understand what's happening, but understanding it hasn't been enough to change it.

That's where therapy can be different.

My role isn't to tell you how to live your life or simply nod while you talk. It's to help you slow things down, ask different questions, and notice patterns that may have been there all along. Sometimes the biggest breakthroughs don't come from finding new answers—they come from seeing old ones in a different way.

Clients often tell me they appreciate that I challenge them while also helping them feel understood. I believe both are important. Therapy should be a place where you feel supported, but it should also help you grow.

Whether I'm working with an individual struggling with anxiety or a couple caught in the same argument for the hundredth time, my goal is the same: to help you better understand yourself, improve your relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change.

I've worked in mental health for more than two decades in community mental health, hospital settings, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and private practice. Those experiences have taught me that while every person's story is different, many of us struggle with the same questions: Why do I keep repeating this pattern? Why do I react this way? Why does this relationship feel so hard?

Those are the kinds of questions I enjoy exploring with clients.

I work with adolescents (16+), adults, and couples throughout Florida, Michigan, and Nevada through secure virtual therapy. My practice welcomes people from all backgrounds, identities, cultures, and relationship structures because everyone deserves a space where they can show up as themselves.

If you're looking for a therapist who will listen, offer honest feedback, and help you move beyond insight into real change, I'd be honored to work with you.
